You are in: the immortals / synopsis
THE IMMORTALS - SYNOPSISIntroduction This book is the “twin” to the rugby book the author, Paul Verdon, wrote of the same name two years ago. It is a book containing the original signatures of every living New Zealand test cricketer (except one, Merv Wallace, who was unable to participate because he is blind) and biographies of the more than 230 men who have played test cricket through history. Several, sadly, have died since signing. This gigantic work has more than 170 original signatures – beginning with Walter Hadlee and Eric Tindill from the 1930s and moving through eight decades to all the modern players and those who have played tests in 2006. There’s JR Reid, Bartlett, Congdon, Turner, Coney, Wright, Fleming, Vettori, Bond, all the Hadlees, the Bracewells, Cairns, Howarths and Crowes … just to name a few. The author worked closely with the NZ Cricket organisation throughout this project. The book is beautifully illustrated, with historic photos from the early players a century or more ago and moving through to the brilliant full-colour photography of today. Each certified numbered copy comes complete with pledge of authenticity concerning the more than 170 New Zealand test cricketers who participated. The beautiful presentation is completed in shellcase, silver-blocked on front and spine, with ribbon marker bound into the case to carefully lift out your book. |
